Sparking Curiosity: How We Bring Science to Life for Kids and Families

Science is everywhere! From the fizz of a fizzy drink to the twinkle of stars above, it’s a magical world waiting to be explored. At Silly Science Workshops, we’re on a mission to make science and STEM learning fun, accessible, and downright exciting for children aged 4-14. We believe every child deserves a chance to discover the wonders of science, no matter their background or needs. So, grab your lab coat and goggles – let’s dive into how we’re lighting up young minds and supporting families and communities along the way!

Giving Back: Our Heartfelt Commitment to Community

We don’t just love science – we love sharing it! That’s why we work closely with charities and organisations to bring science workshops to children who might not otherwise get the chance. Whether it’s hospital wards, foster families, or community groups, we’re there with hands-on experiments and silly science fun.

Some of the amazing partners we’ve teamed up with include:

Our workshops are designed to inspire children and empower parents and carers to make learning a joyful adventure. With over 15 years of experience working with children from the UK to Japan and India, I bring a passion backed by a BA in Early Years, a Level 3 Playwork qualification, and Forest School Leader certification.

Making Science Accessible and Fun for Everyone

Science can sometimes seem tricky or intimidating, but we’re here to change that! Our approach is all about hands-on, playful, and engaging learning. We use simple materials and exciting experiments that children can relate to and enjoy. This way, science becomes a game, a puzzle, and a story all rolled into one.

Here’s how we make it happen:

  • Interactive Workshops: Kids get to touch, mix, and explore. From making slime to launching mini rockets, every activity sparks curiosity.

  • Tailored Sessions: We adapt our workshops to suit different ages, abilities, and learning needs. Whether it’s a school group or a community event, everyone can join in the fun.

  • Empowering Carers: We provide tips and ideas for parents and carers to continue the science fun at home, turning everyday moments into learning opportunities.

Our next big event is the Silly Science Show during the February half term at The Sanctuary, Brimscombe Mill, hosted by The Grace Network. It’s going to be a blast, packed with laughter, learning, and lots of silly science surprises!

Why We Love Working with Charities and Community Groups

Partnering with charities and community groups is at the heart of what we do. It’s not just about delivering workshops – it’s about making a real difference. Many children face barriers to accessing quality STEM education, and we want to break those down.

Working with groups like The Pied Piper Appeal means we bring joy and learning to children in hospital wards, offering a welcome distraction and a chance to explore science in a safe, supportive environment. Collaborating with the HAF Holiday and Food Programme helps us reach families who might struggle with resources, ensuring no child misses out on the fun of discovery.

Community groups such as Cubs and The Friendship Cafe provide fantastic spaces where children can come together, learn, and build friendships through science. And schools like Cotswold Chine School allow us to tailor our sessions to meet specific needs, making sure every child feels included and inspired.

These partnerships fuel our passion and remind us why we do what we do – to light up young minds and create lasting memories.

How You Can Join the Fun and Support Science Learning

Want to bring the magic of science to your event, school, or community group? Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Book a Show and/or Workshop: For any event, or venue, we tailor our workshops to fit your needs and space.

  2. Spread the Word: Share our mission with friends, family, and local groups who might benefit from our workshops.

  3. Volunteer or Partner: If you’re part of a charity or community organisation, let’s chat about how we can collaborate to make science accessible.

  4. Attend Our Events: Join us at upcoming shows like the Silly Science Show at The Sanctuary, Brimscombe Mill, and experience the fun firsthand.

We’re always excited to connect with new faces and places, bringing silly science to every corner of the UK. And if you’re curious about what “Silly Science” looks like, check out our upcoming Workshops and Performance – it’s a bubbling cauldron of fun and learning!

Inspiring the Next Generation of Scientists and Explorers

Science isn’t just about facts and figures – it’s about wonder, creativity, and discovery. By making STEM learning accessible and enjoyable, we’re planting seeds of curiosity that can grow into lifelong passions.

Our workshops encourage children to:

  • Ask questions and seek answers.

  • Experiment without fear of failure.

  • Collaborate and share ideas.

  • See science in everyday life.

Parents and carers also gain confidence and tools to support their children’s learning journey, turning homes into mini science labs filled with excitement.

Together, we’re building a community where science is for everyone – a place where every child can shine bright and dream big.

Ready to make science silly, spectacular, and super fun? Let’s get started! Check out our upcoming events and workshops, and join us in inspiring the scientists, engineers, and explorers of tomorrow.
